Nancy L. Drooker, Ph.D. Psychologist

I approach my practice of psychotherapy as a joint endeavor. In my work with an individual, we aim to discover the unconscious psychological patterns that work both for and against one’s feeling vital and satisfied in love and work. Typically, the patterns of thought and behavior that work against vitality, originally developed as coping mechanisms, have outlived their usefulness and have become obstacles to a healthier mind and body. In my many years of professional experience, I have seen that increased self-awareness of both the obstacles and one’s strengths brings hope and possibilities for positive change. A dynamic, creative process, developed jointly, is undertaken. Though the process can be difficult at times, a shared commitment to the discovery of self-defeating obstacles and self-enhancing pathways holds the promise of enlivening the body, mind and spirit.

My training is in psychodynamic psychotherapy. I have a doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the Wright Institute in Berkeley, CA. Prior to my doctoral studies, I worked in community mental health focused on reproductive health and sexual health issues for adolescents, women, and men. Currently in my practice, I work with individual adults, couples and seniors.

My office is located at the corner of Bush and Octavia streets. It is easily reached by car and public transportation. It is wheelchair accessible. I accept some insurances, including Medicare.
